Minister for Citizenship & Communities Victor Dominello and Tanya Davies MP, State Member for Mulgoa, today met with Antoinette Abdelseed, Co-ordinator of the Angels of Mercy Welfare Services at the community centre in Claremont Meadows to announce and present the welfare agency an $8,000 NSW Government grant.
Minister Dominello said that he was pleased to be able to commit $8,000 towards Angels of Mercy to assist the vital work they do for their local community.
“When Tanya wrote to me to highlight the fantastic work that Angels of Mercy do in her electorate of Mulgoa I was more than happy to be able to do what I could to support the wonderful grassroots work that they do.
“Community organisations like Angels of Mercy are the lifeblood of local communities like Mulgoa and it is so important to continue to support the work they do” said Minister Dominello.
The grant can be used to support community conference initiatives and support groups, as well as covering the costs of organizing a teenagers’ camp event conducted over the weekend period of 4-6 January 2015. For 3 days, Wangat Lodge was the home to a group of 70 teenagers, all from the Sudanese community connected to the Angels of Mercy Welfare Services, supporting the integration of newly arrived migrants and refugees from Africa into our community.
“I am delighted to support Antoinette and Angels of Mercy in their quest to assist and support the needs of new arrivals into our community. They make a real and positive difference to the lives of these people” Tanya Davies said.
