21 January 2014: Children at the YMCA’s Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) at St Marys Public School are set to receive a much-anticipated enhanced outdoor learning space thanks to funds received through the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership (CBP) scheme.
The funds will be used to install shade sails, chairs and tables, as well as an above ground ‘water tank’ garden bed.
YMCA St Marys OSHC Centre Coordinator Kylie Bouveng was delighted to receive the $8,000 grant and said that along with assistance from the YMCA (the Y) it will help create the welcoming outdoor space.
‚The new outdoor learning area will give the children a great outdoor space to eat, learn and play. We are excited to be able to take the children out of the confines of a classroom and provide them with a space where they can be active regardless of the weather,‛ Ms Bouveng said.
'This funding support will make a big impact on our centre and the local community.‛
Tanya Davies MP yesterday visited the YMCA St Marys OSHC to meet the staff and children at the centre and to see firsthand how the funding will be put to work.
'The YMCA St Marys OSHC provides a fantastic service and is an asset to the community,‛ Ms Davies said.
'The CBP program aims to provide improved community infrastructure for the people of NSW and encourage community-based activities that create more vibrant and inclusive communities.
'I am pleased to award this funding to the YMCA St Marys OSHC, which will enable the Y to continue to provide quality care for our local families.‛
