Tanya Davies MP, Member for Mulgoa, is calling for community organisations and local councils to apply for a share in the NSW Government’s $5.3 million Restoration and Rehabilitation Grants Program.
The Grants Program aims to help community organisations, local councils and other groups run projects to prevent or reduce environmental degradation at a local level.
“I urge community organisations and councils to apply for this grants program which helps protect and repair local environments ,” Tanya Davies said.
“This grants program is a grass roots program which aims to restore degraded environmental resources, including rare and endangered ecosystems, protect important ecosystems and habitats of rare and endangered flora and fauna, and prevent or minimise future environmental damage” said Tanya Davies.
Environment Minister Mark Speakman said these grants would help communities and organisations to conduct important environmental work that protects, restores and improves vulnerable ecosystems from degradation.
“There is $2 million available to community and not for profit organisations, $2 million for government entities and a further $1.3 million is available for owners and managers of NSW State Heritage Register listed properties.”
Applications for grants of $5,000 to $100,000 close on Friday, 18 September 2015. Grants are available for projects where work is carried out over a period of up to three years.
