Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP awarded Fr Zvonimir Gavronovic a NSW Government Community Service Award last week.
Fr Zvonimir of Sacred Heart, Luddenham-Warragamba Parish was presented with his award in recognition of the years he has devoted to the catholic community in Western Sydney.
The NSW Government Community Service Award recognises people throughout NSW who have substantially contributed to the improvement of the quality of life of members of their community, beyond that expected in their usual occupation.
Mrs Davies said that Fr Zvonimir, who recently celebrated his 40th year of priesthood, was an outstanding example of servanthood.
“Fr Zvonimir is an inspirational person, he gives selflessly with compassion and grace”
“For the last 20 years he has also been working on his book about a Croatian Cardinal, "In Search of Cardinal Stepinac" which was published last year. He dedicated years of his time to ensuring that there was historically accurate information about Cardinal Stepinac available in the English language. Fr Zvonimir's perseverance and dedication to this cause was outstanding”
Principal of Holy Family Primary School Luddenham, Tim Vane-Tempest said Fr Zvonimir is a much loved member of the school community.
“Fr Zvonimir is just a really nice, genuine man - what you see is what you get. I was so pleased to hear of this award, he rarely gets the recognition he deserves for all that he does for the school and the parish” Mr Vane-Tempest said.
Fr Zvonimir accepted the award humbly, insisting he is “just doing his job”
