Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP was pleased to attend the ground breaking ceremony of the new Digital Realty Data Centre based at Erskine Park last week.
Tanya Davies was joined by Krupal Raval, CFO of APAC and executives from Digital Realty at the new development site in Erskine Park.
Digital Realty is a leading global provider of data centre, colocation and interconnection solutions. The company works with domestic and international companies of all sizes, ranging from financial services, cloud and information technology services, to manufacturing, energy, gaming, life sciences and consumer products.
The new facility will be connected to the company’s existing SYD10 Erskine Park facility, providing a ‘Connected Campus’ environment for numerous Australian and international customers.
“The facility will allow Western Sydney to be at the forefront of major advances in IT strategies and design through forging relationships with international business partners,” Tanya Davies said.
The construction of SYD11 will see Digital Realty employ up to 500 local contractors during construction and up to 30 permanent roles once the data centre is fully operational, providing a boost to the Western Sydney economy.
“This is an opportune moment for Western Sydney to become a magnet for business as investment here increases. We welcome Digital Realty’s significant contribution to the local economy, which is expected to deliver significant job creation in an already thriving region,” said Tanya Davies.
The construction of SYD11 is expected to be complete in late 2018.
