Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP has welcomed reforms to compulsory third-party (CTP) green-slip legislation, which were recently introduced to the NSW Parliament.
Earlier this month, the NSW Parliament successfully passed the Motor Accidents Injuries Bill (2017), which will make CTP green-slips cheaper for motorists across the state.
Over the past decade, Mulgoa Green Slip prices have increased by 85 per cent, with the average Mulgoa motorist now paying $700. Under the new scheme, Mulgoa motorists could save around $120 on an average green slip.
“The current scheme is one of the least affordable in the country and delivers just 45 cents in every green slip dollar to injured road users, with the rest going to scheme costs such as legal fees, insurer profits and medical fees,” Tanya Davies said.
The new scheme will be fairer and more affordable for motorists, whilst ensuring injured road users receive adequate support.
The new scheme is expected to come into effect in December 2017.
