Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP, has today urged local Mulgoa community groups and organisations to apply for funding under the Youth Opportunities Program.
The funding is allocated on the basis of supporting and assisting youth-led and youth-driven community projects, so as to ensure that young people are able to reach their full potential, benefiting the Mulgoa community as a whole.
“The Youth Opportunities Program is an incredibly important source of funding provided by the NSW Government, allowing organisations to ascertain the financial backing they require to engage our community’s young people in creative, dynamic and innovative ways,” Tanya Davies said.
Since 2012, Youth Opportunities has provided more than $6.8 million in funding to over 120 projects across NSW, involving more than 31,500 young people, including those in Mulgoa.
“In particular, the Program is one that is geared towards grassroots projects that will make a real, lasting and meaningful difference and impact on the lives of young people across the region and community,” said Tanya Davies.
Community organisations and local councils can apply for grants of up to $50,000 for new projects that support young people and their participation, engagement and inclusion in the community.
“As the relevant Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Affairs, I am especially excited to be involved in this process and working with community groups and organisations to foster a culture of excellence and initiative,” Tanya Davies said.
The online application process closes at 5:00pm on Monday, 27 June 2016. Successful applicants will be announced and notified later in the year.
