Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP met with the Hon Gladys Berejiklian MP, Minister for Transport to step up her lobbying for a direct school bus service from Glenmore Park to McCarthy College at Emu Plains.
Mrs Davies presented to the Minister the results of the survey which was mailed to every household in Glenmore Park.
Mrs Davies said that the survey results demonstrated a significant level of demand for a direct bus service.
"Today I gave the survey responses to the Minister and once again put a strong case forward for a direct bus service to the Minister on behalf of my community" Mrs Davies said.
During 2011 many written requests and conversations with the Office of the Minister for Transport on this issue occurred. Mrs Davies was advised late last year that Transport for NSW's (TfNSW) statistics on the numbers of students utilising the current service identified that was insufficient demand for a direct service.
"The feedback I was receiving from some parents in Glenmore Park contradicted the advice I had received from the Department." Mrs Davies said.
"The parents informed me that there are over 250 students from Glenmore Park that attend McCarthy Catholic College"
"The only way to clearly identify the need for a direct bus service was to distribute a survey to collect the data myself."
"At present the only bus service available for students of McCarthy Catholic College is via Penrith train station." Mrs Davies said.
The Minister for Transport will submit the survey findings to Transport for NSW for review.
