Seniors Week this year will be celebrated in NSW on 15-23 March and today Tanya
Davies MP, Member for Mulgoa, has helped to make sure that the Nepean Community
& Neighbourhood Services (NCNS) was ready to support these celebrations.
Tanya Davies presented a cheque for $600 to Joy Impiombato, General Manager
Nepean Community & Neighbourhood Services as part of the NSW Seniors Week
“Seniors play a significant part in our society and they deserve to be celebrated and
have their contributions honoured,” Tanya Davies said.
The grant contribution will go towards a very special day to celebrate Seniors Week and
this year’s theme is “Live Life!”, with a lunch and entertainment provided at Floribunda
Community Centre, Glenmore Park on Thursday 20th March.
“Students from Glenmore Park High School will be helping out on the day and these
events provide great opportunities for local young people and seniors to get together,
and this is often the highlight of the day.” Joy Impiombato said.
“Our State Government wants to make sure that there is plenty to do during Seniors
Week (15 – 23 March), and NCNS is getting their share of more than $200,000 worth of
funding that is being provided for celebrations across the State.” Tanya said.
For more information on the “Live Life!” event at Glenmore Park, please call Julie
Collins on (02) 4733 1499.
The NSW received 480 applications and 229 are set to receive funding.
Minister for Ageing, the Hon. John Ajaka MLC said NSW’s Seniors Week was the
largest celebration for people over 60 in the southern hemisphere.
“By awarding grants locally, we are helping to spread the celebrations across the state,
rather than confining them exclusively to larger towns and cities” said Minister Ajaka.
