HONOUR EXCEPTIONAL GRANDPARENTS AND OLDER PEOPLE IN MULGOA

Monday July 24, 2017

Entries are now open for the 2017 NSW Grandparent of the Year Awards and the inaugural Grandparents Day Photography Competition.

Tanya Davies MP is calling for people in Mulgoa to nominate stand-out grandparents or older people who go above and beyond for their families and the Mulgoa community.

“Whether you’re a grandchild or someone who is simply thankful for a grandparent or older person who makes a difference in Mulgoa, then nominate them today,” Tanya Davies said.

The opening of this year’s award nominations coincides with the launch of an inaugural Grandparents Day Photography Competition.

Tanya Davies said the photography competition, a partnership between the NSW Government and The Australian Centre for Photography, is a great opportunity to recognise the many ways older people contribute.

“Turn the lens towards your older relatives and friends, and show us what they mean to you,” Tanya Davies said.

Both initiatives aim to highlight the invaluable contribution of older people ahead of Grandparent’s Day on Sunday October 29, 2017.

Minister for Ageing, Tanya Davies, said NSW Grandparents Day was launched by the NSW Government in 2011 and is a key initiative under the NSW Ageing Strategy.

“We want to challenge stereotypes and promote the talent and experience of older people, which make our communities better places to live and work,” Mrs Davies said.

More details about the Grandparents Day Photography Competition are available at www.grandparentsday.nsw.gov.au , entries close on September 1, 2017.
