Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP has announced that Keith Parker of St Clair has been chosen as the Youth Parliament Member for Mulgoa.
The YMCA New South Wales Youth Parliament is a program that gives young people a voice in the running of NSW. It is a place where the opinions and concerns of young people in NSW are heard by those who have the power to make laws.
The program aims to promote youth-led advocacy, active community leadership and legal and parliamentary education.
Keith, who is in year 12 at Penrith High School, said that he applied for the role because of his interest in politics, law and public speaking.
"I look forward to engaging the young people in our community to ascertain their political views on the issues we will be discussing."
"I see this program as a chance to interact with and provide a voice for youth in Western Sydney" Keith said.
Mrs Davies said it was great to have young people who are interested in advocacy and being involved in their local community.
"The Youth Parliament program gives students an understanding of the parliamentary and political process and equips them with the knowledge of how to achieve change" Mrs Davies said.
"I am confident that with Keith's strong passion for advocacy for young people in our area, Mulgoa will be well represented in the Youth Parliament"
