Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies today announced that an additional set of flashing lights have been installed at St Clair Public School at the request of Principal Judy Loader, who had concerns about the safety of students in the school zone.
One set of flashing lights were installed in Timesweep Drive in July this year, however there are many motorists who use Autumnleaf Parade to access the school.
Ms Loder said that following the installation of the additional set of lights she had noticed a difference in the traffic.
"All traffic passing the school is aware of the school zone and i have noticed that traffic has slowed" Ms Loder said.
"On behalf of the St Clair Public School Community I would like to thank Tanya Davies for her lobbying on our behalf"
“These new lights have been installed following representations I made to the Minister for Roads on behalf of St Clair Public School,” Mrs Davies said.
“Flashing lights slow motorists down around schools and warn them they are approaching a school – now that all approaches are covered, this is great news for St Clair Public School.
“The lights will operate automatically between 8am and 9.30am and 2.30pm and 4pm on school days during term time,” Mrs Davies said.
