Tanya Davies MP, Member for Mulgoa, today congratulated Harry Morfoot of Glenmore Park for winning the 2015 NSW Seniors Week Local Achievement Award for the Mulgoa electorate.
“I am delighted to present Harry Morfoot with this Seniors Week Local Achievement Award.” said Tanya Davies.
“Seniors deserve recognition for the important contribution they make across so many different areas of community life and I thank Harry and all the other seniors who demonstrate their personal commitment and generosity to our local community.” said Tanya Davies.
Harry Morfoot was recognised for his outstanding contribution in voluntary work at the Penrith City sub branch of the National Servicemen’s Association of Australia, where he was President for over 10 years.
“I feel very humbled and grateful for the special recognition and I would like to thank you Tanya for presenting this award to me” said Harry Morfoot.
Harry is a valuable, courteous and generous member of the National Servicemen’s Association who has dedicated a large portion of time over more than a decade to serving, supporting and caring for the welfare of community members who served our nation and their families. He played an instrumental role in the Legacy badges charity program during the ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day ceremonies in the Penrith region, collecting a combined sum of $140,000 in donations for the charity to date.
This award is the community’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to seniors for their enthusiasm and impressive commitment to their community,” said Tanya Davies.
The NSW Seniors Week Local Achievement Awards marks just one of the exciting program of events held during 2015 NSW Seniors Week; celebrated this year from
14 to 22 March 15.
An estimated 250,000 seniors are expected to attend more than 900 local events throughout the state during this week.
The activities support the objectives of the NSW Ageing Strategy, which was launched to support the health and wellbeing of seniors.
