Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP today called on community organisations in Mulgoa to apply for a share of $1.2 million in funding to help build or improve community facilities for social housing tenants and the wider community.

Round 4 of the Social Housing Community Improvement Fund (SHCIF) opened on 16 November 2017 with grants of $35,000 to $50,000 made available to councils, not-for-profit organisations and private sector organisations across NSW.

Tanya Davies said the SHCIF was designed to not only improve social housing facilities for tenants, but also create better linkages between social housing and the broader community.

“Projects funded under the SHCIF not only improve the liveability and amenity of social housing for our tenants, but also reduce the isolation that can exist between residents of social housing and the broader community,” Tanya Davies said.

“I encourage community organisations in Mulgoa to apply for funding to help improve facilities for our most vulnerable.”

Minister for Social Housing Pru Goward said funding under Round 4 prioritise high-density social housing populations to ensure more social housing residents across the state benefit from improved community facilities.

“We’ve already seen projects across NSW that have made a real difference in people’s lives and I look forward to Round Four providing more tenants with the opportunity to enjoy improved facilities,” Ms Goward added.

Round 4 of the SHCIF is the final stage in the delivery of the NSW Liberals and Nationals Commitment to invest $20 million to improve the liveability and amenity of social housing communities. Since 2015, the SHCIF has invested in nearly 500 projects across NSW.

All grant applications must be for projects that can be completed within 12 months or by no later than 30 March 2019.

Applications will be open for four weeks.
