MULGOA SCHOOLS TAKE A STAND AGAINST BULLYING

Thursday March 17, 2016

The Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP is encouraging local schools to take part in tomorrow’s National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.

“The National Day of Action is a great opportunity for schools to share their existing work in this space with their school community,” Tanya Davies said.

A lot of schools in Mulgoa already have very successful practices in place, but having a dedicated day each year brings a fresh focus to the issue.

“I strongly recommend participation in the National Day of Action because it will complement any school’s efforts against bullying, from the small rural primary school to the big city high school,” said Tanya Davies.

The sixth National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence is organised by Bullying. No Way!, an initiative of the Federal Government, Catholic and Independent education authorities.

In NSW, at least 385 government schools have registered to take part so far, with more than 155,000 students. At least 88 Catholic schools with nearly 42,000 students and 60 independent schools with more than 31,000 students have also signed up.

It is expected that more than 900,000 students from more than 2,000 schools across Australia will take part on the day.
