Member for Mulgoa Tanya Davies MP presented a $500 cheque to Kim Carter from St Clair Youth and Neighborhood Team Inc. to help stage their ‘Live Life to the Full Luncheon' on 21 March 2012 during Seniors Week this year.
Ms Carter said that this was the third year she has been involved in the luncheon and she expects between 60 and 80 seniors and their carers to attend.
The money will go toward the purchase of food for the luncheon, which is catered by Erskine Park High School Hospitality and Food Technology students.
Entertainment will include a local preschool choir, the Erskine Park High School band and dancers from Penrith Ballroom Dancing.
“Seniors make a tremendous contribution to our community through volunteering, mentoring and other activities, and Seniors Week is a great opportunity to recognise the outstanding work they do,” Mrs Davies said.
“I congratulate St Clair Youth and Neighborhood Team Inc. and wish them every success for the luncheon.”
The NSW Government has allocated more than $188,000 in grants to communities across the State to recognize the outstanding contributions seniors make in the lives of their families and neighborhoods.
NSW Seniors Week events will be held from 18 to 25 March 2012. For more information visit: www.nswseniorsweek.com.au.
