More than $50,000 will be invested in Mulgoa as part of the NSW Governments record $70 million on 172 vital safety upgrades to the state’s road network, which will help to drive down the road toll Towards Zero.
Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP today announced the record investment as part of the State Government’s Safer Roads Program, to carry out vital road safety upgrade throughout the state.
“Last year 254 people lost their lives in the country. That’s two-thirds of our total road toll for 2016, in one third of our population,” Tanya Davies said.
“Most of these drivers were locals and many of them died close to home. There are also literally thousands of people being seriously injured on our roads each year.”
Tanya Davies said that the Safer Roads Program would provide much needed upgrades to Mamre Road and Solander Drive in St Clair.
“To improve road safety along Mamre Road and Solander Drive, this funding will be used to install a raised concrete median and upgrade control signs and line markings at the intersection.” Tanya Davies said.
“This important road safety program is funded through the Community Road Safety fund where all speed camera revenue is sent,”
“This year’s improvements to the road network is estimated to save the equivalent of 419 deaths and serious injuries over the life of the projects.” Tanya Davies said.
