Tanya Davies MP, Member for Mulgoa is encouraging people to attend the Nepalese Community of Western Sydney Inc's Nepalese New Year celebrations on 14 April 2012. The celebrations are at Harold Corr Community Hall in Werrington and kick off at 7pm.
Mrs Davies said the event was a colourful and fun way to experience Nepalese culture.
"I attended last year's New Year celebrations and had a wonderful time. The night started off with a costume parade by young Nepalese Australians and included a diverse array of cultural performances" Mrs Davies said.
Mr Pukar Pradhan, President of the Nepalese Community of Western Sydney Inc said this year will be even better.
"This year the theme for the celebration is the importance of mother in the family. It is a celebration of our cultural heritage" Mr Pradhan said.
Mrs Davies also thanked Penrith City Council for their decision to waive the hall hire fee for the event, as it is open to the whole community.
Mrs Davies said that Penrith City Council works hard to provide a socially inclusive program for community development.
The Nepalese Community of Western Sydney inc. was established to raise awareness and promote Nepalese culture to Australians and to the younger generation of Nepalese Australians, and to provide all Nepalese Australians with a common forum for the enjoyment of Nepalese Culture.
