Member for Mulgoa Tanya Davies MP today announced that Nepean Christian School has received $700,000 in Building Grants Assistance Scheme (BGAS) funding for a $1,014,946 project to build a school library.
Tanya Davies joined Nepean Christian School Principal Mr Cameron Nunn to turn the soil on the site of the school’s new library.
“I am thrilled to join the Nepean Christian School community to announce the commencement of construction on their new library. A library offers a world of imagination, creativity, collaboration, learning and opportunity, and this is a fantastic example of the Building Grants Assistance Scheme making an impact in our schools,” said Tanya Davies.
In 2015 the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government announced an additional $50 million dollars, over four years, under the Building Grants Assistance Scheme. This year the scheme will deliver an additional $12.5 million.
Tanya Davies said BGAS grants are directed towards independent and Catholic schools with the greatest need, to help schools cater for growing enrolments, and to refurbish or build new facilities.
“The funds are designed to help schools across NSW improve the learning environments for their students, giving schools contemporary facilities that reflect the learning needs of today’s students,” Tanya Davies said.
The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is now providing more than $24 million each year under the Building Grants Assistance Scheme to support enrolment growth in non-government schools.
“I will always champion the needs of local schools throughout the Mulgoa electorate, as I am a passionate advocate for ensuring that the educational and learning needs of our children are supported,” said Tanya Davies.
BGAS is administered by the Association of Independent Schools NSW and the NSW Catholic Block Grant Authorities and funded by the NSW Government.
