Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP invited NSW Minister for Ageing and Disability Service, John Ajaka MLC, to inspect the spectator access area of the indoor horse riding arena at Nepean Riding for the Disabled Association, which will get a $40,865 NSW Government grant upgrade that was announced recently. They were met by Nepean RDA President, Narelle O’Kell and fellow committee member and canteen coordinator, Zac Grbic.
The NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program has provided $40,865 to fund the construction work.
“Local horse riders with disabilities and their families will be able enjoy easier access and comfort while spectating in the indoor arena once this upgrade is completed” Tanya Davies said.
“I’m impressed with the dedication and commitment that voluntary workers such as Narelle O’Kell and Zac Grbic have in improving the lifestyles of people with disabilities in our local community and I commend their enduring work and efforts” said Minister Ajaka.
Ms Narelle O’Kell said that the Club’s horse riding activities is very therapeutic and really makes a positive difference in the lives of people with disabilities and their families, and they will start the construction work as soon as possible.
“While the NSW Government is getting on with the job of delivering major infrastructure projects, we understand the importance of providing local community infrastructure benefits too” Tanya Davies said.
The Club is located in Orchard Hills and is run by about 30 volunteers and currently provides support to 38 people, who are living with a disability.
“We’ve taken the ‘before’ photo and I look forward to seeing the ‘after photo’ once this project is completed,” Tanya Davies said.
