Tanya Davies MP, State Member for Mulgoa, is keen to advise local residents and commuters that work will be carried out this weekend to install new water mains as work continues on the $95 million NSW Government funded Old Wallgrove Road upgrade at Eastern Creek.

Tanya Davies said the water main work is an important component of the 1.5 kilometre road upgrade between Roberts Road and the M7 Motorway, which will provide crucial east-west connection for the Western Sydney Employment Area.

“Work is under way to widen Old Wallgrove Road to two lanes in each direction between Roberts Road and Southridge Street and to three lanes in each direction between Southridge Street and the Wallgrove Road and M7 interchanges” Tanya Davies said.

As part of the project, work to install new water mains along Wallgrove Road and Old Wallgrove Road near Quarry Road at Eastern Creek will be carried out this weekend between 7am and 5pm each day, weather permitting.

Traffic controllers and electronic signage will be in place to guide traffic past the work site and ensure the safety or motorists and workers. Motorists should follow the direction of traffic control and signage, and allow extra travel time with delays likely around Old Wallgrove Road.

“I wish to thank the community in advance for their patience while this essential work is carried out” said Tanya Davies.

As part of the project work is also progressing to build a new 400 metre, four lane link road between Quarry Road and Wallgrove Road as well as a one kilometre upgrade of Wallgrove Road in the vicinity of on and off ramps to the M7 motorway.

The project aims to improve traffic flow to new employment growth areas, support future growth on an important freight link and reduce traffic congestion on local roads.

“Work on the Old Wallgrove Road upgrade started last year and is expected to be completed in 2017” said Tanya Davies.
