NIGHT WORK ON THE M4 WESTERN MOTORWAY AT PENRITH BEGINS MONDAY 7 MAY

Tuesday May 1, 2018

The NSW Government is funding this essential maintenance work under its $1.5 billion program to maintain and improve the 18,028 kilometre state road network.

Roads and Maritime Services will be upgrading the access to the variable message sign (VMS) site on the M4 Western Motorway, between Mulgoa Road and The Northern Road. We have included a map to show the location of the work.

The maintenance work aims to prevent or minimise damage to roads from weather and wear and tear to make them safer, provide consistent driving conditions and reduce maintenance costs in the long term.

RMS will be on site for eight shifts between Monday 7 May and Friday 6 July, excluding public holidays, weather permitting. Our work hours will be between 8pm and 5am from Sunday to Friday.
To minimise disruption to residents, businesses and road users, we will not work more than two nights in any week.

The work may be noisy at times but RMS will do everything they can to minimise its impact, including completing the noisier tasks by 11pm.

There will be temporary traffic changes during our work hours to ensure the work zone is safe.
Lane closures will be in place and may affect travel times. Please keep to speed limits and follow signs and traffic controllers’ directions.
