Wednesday July 26, 2017

Organisations in Mulgoa are being encouraged to celebrate the enormous contribution seniors make by holding an event during the 2018 NSW Seniors Festival.

Tanya Davies MP today announced grants of up to $10,000 are available for local organisations in Mulgoa to host events and activities that will support the festival’s 60th year.

“The $200,000 grants program is part of the NSW Government’s continued commitment to creating a more inclusive community for seniors and celebrate the immense value older people bring to Mulgoa,” Tanya Davies said.

“Schools, councils and other local organisations in Mulgoa are encouraged to apply and be part of more than 1,000 free or discounted events expected to be held across the state.”

The 2018 festival will run from Wednesday April 4 to Sunday April 15.

Minister for Ageing Tanya Davies said the NSW Seniors Festival is the largest celebration of older people in the Southern Hemisphere.

“I encourage organisations to hold that events that will inspire seniors, regardless of their age or ability. It’s a brilliant way to connect with and appreciate older people in our communities,” Mrs Davies said.

Past events have focused on creativity, recreation, technology, and health, while also benefiting the culturally and linguistically diverse, Aboriginal, and Torres Strait Islander communities.
