A re-elected Baird Government will invest $4 million in its second term for a comprehensive planning project to outline the major redevelopment of Nepean Hospital.
Health Minister Jillian Skinner said the Baird Government has a proud record of fulfilling the health promises it has made to patients, staff and the wider community.
“I can guarantee a re-elected Baird Government will invest $4 million to plan the next stage of Nepean Hospital’s major redevelopment, which will determine the eventual scope and size of the project,” Mrs Skinner said.
Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres said: “Only the Baird Government can be trusted to do their homework and deliver vital hospital upgrades. Planning funding is the first and most important step to delivering a major hospital redevelopment.
“The Local Health District has valued the redevelopment at $370 million, which includes $12 million for expanded community health services at St Marys.
“I’m a tireless advocate of Nepean Hospital and I will continue to champion its upgrade for the benefit of patients, their loved ones and our dedicated health staff.”
Member for Mulgoa Tanya Davies said: “The planning work undertaken by the Baird Government to deliver hospital upgrades is second-to-none.
“It will involve staff at the hospital to make sure we get it right – and not dead wrong like Labor did for 16 years.”
“Nepean Hospital is a priority and on our forward capital works agenda while investment in community heath services in St Mary’s is also a major win for the area.”
Minister Ayres said this announcement builds on the Liberal Government’s strong record of delivering for Nepean Hospital.
“Since being elected in NSW we have opened the East Block extension, the new Mental Health Unit, the Nepean Centre for Oral Health and a new Multi-Storey Car park. “
