Tanya Davies MP, State Member for Mulgoa, announced today that planning is now underway to upgrade The Horsley Drive between the M7 Motorway and Cowpasture Road.
“$500,000 has been allocated by the NSW Baird Government to start investigations for the future upgrade which aims to reduce congestion, improve capacity and safety, and support future industrial and employment growth in the area” Tanya Davies said.
“Work will include upgrading this section of road to two lanes in each direction with provision for three lanes each way in the future.
“The upgrade would also improve access to the Western Sydney Regional Park and increase safety for cyclists and pedestrians by providing an off road shared path.
The funding will enable Roads and Maritime Services to complete traffic modelling and assessments to identify key causes of congestion and report their findings.
“Labor had 16 years to upgrade Horsley Drive – and never did. The Baird Government in a quarter of the time has already acted – putting this vital upgrade on the agenda” said Tanya Davies.
Work to progress environmental assessments and develop the concept design will continue in coming months with the community to be invited to have a say during key stages.
“We want people to spend more time with their families and friends – not stuck in traffic,” Tanya Davies said.
Roads and Maritime will continue working with key stakeholders including Western Sydney Regional Park Trust, Sydney Catchment Authority, Fairfield City Council and Transport for NSW to develop the project.
