Tanya Davies MP, State Member for Mulgoa, visited 4 grassroots sporting organisations in her community last week pledging that a re-elected Baird Liberal Team will support them to encourage greater sporting participation and quality of experience.
“It takes many years for smaller clubs to fundraise enough money to tackle large infrastructure, drainage or lighting works and a re-elected Baird Government will continue to support local sporting organisations to achieve their infrastructure and resource needs” said Tanya Davies.
Tanya visited St Clair “Comets” Junior Rugby League Club at Peter Kearns Reserve and met with Club officials and junior rugby league players from the club’s Under 8s team to offer funding support of $30,000. These funds will be put to great use by the club to improve drainage of the fields to prevent flooding, provide shelter for spectators and players, especially in bad weather and summer months.
“Thank you Tanya for supporting our club, we very much appreciate the efforts you go to” said Club President Mick Higgins. He was joined by fellow committee members Bill Borg, Secretary, Dave Brown, Senior Vice President, and Colin Armstrong, Saturday President.
Tanya visited Kemps Creek United Soccer Club at Bill Anderson Reserve in Kemps Creek and met with committee members Peter Maltese, Secretary, Michael Furfaro, Treasurer and club co-founder, John Elasi and players during their mid-week training session to offer funding support of $20,000. These funds will be used for additional lights to field 2 for improved safety of training, upgrade of canteen with an exhaust fan, air conditioning and equipment.
Tanya visited St Clair United Soccer Club at Mark Leece Oval in St Clair and met with committee members Richie Mazurkiewicz, President, Joseph Khalifeh, Vice President/Secretary and juniors from the Under 5s alligators and bears teams to offer funding support of $25,000. These funds will be used for additional training fields with lighting as the existing training fields were on St Clair High School premises, now being used for demountable classrooms in lieu of the massive fire that destroyed 80% of the school last year.
Finally, Tanya visited Horsley Park United Soccer Club at Horsley Park and met with club President and Secretary Warren and Elaine Gaffney and players during their mid-week training session to offer funding support of $25,000. These funds will be used to provide power to canteen, drainage, modernising their storage container and AED equipment.
