Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies MP has congratulated Werrington resident Helen Williams upon being named 2017 Senior Volunteer of the Year for the Sydney Outer West/Blue Mountains region.

“The Volunteer of the Year Awards aims to recognise those who dedicate themselves to their local communities,” Tanya Davies said.

Mrs Williams was nominated by Clairgate Public School in St Clair, after volunteering at the school for the past 10 years.

Tanya Davies presented Mrs Williams with her 2017 Senior Volunteer of the Year Award last week during the awards ceremony.

“As a foster carer, Helen has the ability to form connections with students at the school, particularly with those who are in an out of home situation. Helen enjoys assisting students with their learning and participating in school events like holiday celebrations and school performances,” Tanya Davies said.

Mrs Williams also spends her weekends volunteering for local soccer club, St Marys Rangers, and has been doing so for the past 40 years.

“It is not hard to see why Helen was named Senior Volunteer of the Year. Helen is a compassionate individual who volunteers to enrich her local community and for social good. I thank Helen for her contributions to the Mulgoa community.” Tanya Davies said.
