ST CLAIR HAWKS BENEFITS FROM NSW GOVERNMENT GRANT

Monday August 3, 2015

Tanya Davies MP, State Member for Mulgoa, visited St Clair Hawks Cricket Club members and mascot to witness the completion of a major upgrade to the Club’s practice nets.

The St Clair Hawks received $27,542 in State Government funding under the 2014 Community Building Partnership Grant program to help upgrade cricket nets at Cook and Banks Ovals in St Clair.

The total cost of the upgrade project was $39,542, the remainder of which was provided by Cricket NSW ($10,000), Penrith Junior Cricket Association ($2,000), while the construction work was managed by Penrith City Council.

Tanya Davies said she was delighted to welcome the roll out of yet another important community project in the Mulgoa electorate.

St Clair Hawks Cricket Club was one of 13 grant applicants who received a share of $300,000 total in the last round of grant funding for community infrastructure committed to rebuilding NSW and creating local jobs in Tanya’s electorate of Mulgoa and supporting local community needs.

“The local community will really enjoy the benefits of this and other State Government projects that could only be possible with the aid of the NSW Government grants,” Tanya Davies said.

Jason Lockwood from the St Clair Hawks commented that he was impressed to see the increase in interest and participation in cricket for the club since the nets were installed, even before the cricket season has started.

“A massive thank you to everyone who contributed to the project, the NSW Government, Cricket NSW, Penrith Junior Cricket Association, Penrith City Council, and to Tanya Davies for supporting our project right from the start” said Jason Lockwood, Secretary, St Clair Hawks Cricket Club.

The NSW Government is committed to delivering major infrastructure projects, like upgrades to our roads and public transport, as well as vital services such as health and education, as well as local community infrastructure which directly benefits families in our community too.

“I look forward to seeing more benefits for our community as projects are undertaken and put to good use across the Mulgoa electorate,” Tanya Davies said.
