Member for Mulgoa Tanya Davies today announced stage one of the Werrington Arterial Road project has been approved and the submissions report is now available online.
“This is great news for western Sydney motorists. The project aims to reduce travel times and improve road safety for those accessing the M4 Motorway and the Great Western Highway at Claremont Meadows,” Tanya Davies said.
“The submissions report has been developed in response to feedback on the review of environmental factors report displayed for comment in December 2012 and January 2013.
“Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) received 50 submissions from the community and stakeholders. All submissions were considered by RMS and further work is under way as investigation and design for the road upgrade progresses.
“There were 48 submissions from the community and two from stakeholders, Endeavour Energy and Penrith City Council.
"Some of the most common issues raised included the potential traffic impact on local roads, potential noise while upgrade work is carried out and traffic noise once the upgrade is complete.
The NSW and Australian Governments are working together to continue planning for this project with the Australian Government contributing $7 million from the Nation Building Program and the NSW Government contributing $10 million.
The submissions report and further information is available on the project website at www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roadprojects.
