This coming Sunday 23 November is ‘Summer Safety Sunday’ selected to promote swimming pool safety and compliance in readiness for the summer months.
With over 300,000 backyard swimming pools in NSW, swimming pool safety is a vital issue that affects the whole community. Supervising young children in and around swimming pools and developing water confidence through water familiarisation programs can save lives.
In the last 10 years in NSW 60 children have died in backyard swimming pools and 70 children have neurological damage as a result of immersion in backyard swimming pools. To help protect our children swimming pool laws have changed.
From the 29th April 2015 all properties with a swimming pool or spa pool that are sold or leased must have a valid swimming pool certificate of compliance.

“Supervised children never drown. Be prepared, be close, give all of your attention all of the time and enjoy this coming summer season in safety” said Tanya Davies MP.
