Tanya Davies, State Member for Mulgoa was delighted to be invited by St Clair Public School Principal Judy Loader to open a networking meeting yesterday involving principals and teachers from primary schools throughout the Western Sydney region.
St Clair Public School was host to over 80 teachers, executives and principals from schools ranging from Penrith to the west and Seven Hills to the east.
“I was encouraged to see how school principals and teachers throughout the Western Sydney district united with a keen interest to plan and prepare for our children’s education well into the future, utilizing the latest technology, and sharing their ideas and experiences learned in the classroom” said Tanya Davies.
The participants were from schools currently involved in the "One Laptop per Child" program which issues an individual XO laptop for each student in the school.
The meeting was held as a sharing forum where teachers made quick presentations to share lessons, electronic resources, teaching and learning ideas on organisational and practical tips for using the XOs in the classroom, school and wider community.
"XO laptops support learners to gain important technological skills in order for them to be successful in the 21st Century" said Judy Loader, Principal St Clair Public School.
Rangan Srikhanta CEO of One Education also attended to support the initiative and to launch the One-Network website.
"This networking meeting is an excellent example of how school communities work together in a collegial and collaborative way to achieve best practice" said Jenni Egger, Assistant Principal St Clair Public School.
